Q. How was this decision made at Mayville State? A. A technology planning process was initiated during the 1994-95 academic year. It became apparent that the cost of technological change would far exceed the ability of the university or the state to provide sufficient funds to acquire and maintain current technology. Faculty and students were approached in the fall of 1995 and asked to consider the possibility of a notebook initiative. There were many meetings, surveys, and field trips to the University of MN-Crookston. After collecting input, the MaSU/VCSU Executive Team decided to proceed with the initiative. The ND State Board of Higher Education approved the request for fee increases to fund leasing of notebook computers at both MaSU and VCSU at the November, 1995 meeting. Return to FAQ Contents |
